Learn

Tuesdays @ 9

On Tuesdays at 9PM, we gather in our cozy lounge for music, conversation, refreshments and opportunity discussion of a subject related to faith in daily life. There's always a stated topic but no subject is off limits! We hope you'll join us this fall as we consider the following:

October: Current Topics in Lutheranism

Join us as we consider Lutheran perspectives on such timely topics as "rapture," "predestination" and some of the more challenging aspects of the Apostles' Creed. What troubles you? What piques your curiosity? Bring your questions and let's see where the Spirit leads us.

November/December: Faith Stories

Members of the Lord of Light community will share their faith stories with students. This will be a wonderful opportunity to get better acquainted and to learn from the experiences of more senior members of the faith community.

January/February: Service in Church and Community

Representatives of local church and community social service organizations will join us to share about their ministries. Come ready to learn. Who knows? You might be stirred to action!

March: Introduction to Islam

In March, we will begin preparing for our trip to the Holy Land during Winter Break, 2007. As part of our education, we will begin to learn about the Islamic faith. Whether or not you will be traveling to the Holy Land, we hope you'll come and learn about this rapidly growing yet often misunderstood faith tradition.

April: God's Warriors

Our preparations for travel to the Holy Land continue as we watch and discuss excerpts from "God's Warriors" in which CNN correspondent Christiane Amanpour explores the extremist branches of the three monotheistic religions. It is sure to be a lively and provocative series!
