Lutheran Campus Ministry
Alumni and Friends
Give
Students who are engaged in Lutheran Campus Ministry today are able to enjoy the worship, education, service and fellowship of Lord of Light because those whose lives have been shaped by this or other campus ministries continue to give thanks for their experiences by making financial support of this ministry a regular part of their charitable giving.
Alumni and friends of Lutheran Campus Ministry - in partnership with our constituent congregations, synods and national expressions of this church – make it possible for this and future generations to continue to grow in faith and love of Christ and to develop leadership skills that will serve church and society for decades to come.
The hope and vision of Lutheran Campus Ministry at the University of Michigan can be realized only with the participation of all who have been the beneficiaries of its gifts. Individually and collectively, we bear the responsibility for moving this ministry forward in service to the University community. When we share our resources, faith is shaped, hope is restored and challenge becomes the springboard for advocacy and service. Lives are changed for the better. Forever!
Our students and young alumni are people of diverse interests who are passionate about justice and eager to serve causes beyond themselves. They include young adults like:
- Chelsea Mathis '08, who will be serving as an ELCA Young Adult in Global Mission based in Jerusalem this coming year.
- Andrew Bracken, who grew up in campus ministry in East Lansing, and anticipates engaging in environmental education through the Peace Corps in Cape Verde.
- Leslie Stierman, a peer minister who is completing her law degree and hopes to land a job that will allow her to devote much of her time to pro bono work.
- Jessie Kirchner, who is pursuing a master's degree in restorative justice in conjunction with both the Law School and the School of Social Work.
As you reflect upon the impact of Lutheran Campus Ministry in your life - the mentors you have known, the friendships that have sustained you, the members of the community who nurtured you along - we hope that you will want to ensure that a new generation of students will enjoy the same blessings. We invite you to consider a gift to Lutheran Campus Ministry:
- $50 will provide materials for a semester-long Bible study
- $100 will underwrite the cost of a Sunday brunch for 30 students
- $250 will defray a portion of a student’s expenses related to a mission trip
- $500 will fund a Yoder scholarship
- $1,000 will provide Braille resources that enable visually impaired students to participate fully in worship
